2026 KIA Telluride: A Redesign That Takes the Icon to New Heights

September 17th, 2024 by

The KIA Telluride has been a top SUV since its launch in 2020. Now KIA is preparing to take the vehicle to the next level with the 2026 KIA Telluride. This is the first major refresh since the Telluride was born and it’s building on the good stuff of the past while adding the latest design and tech.

Exterior Refresh

The 2026 KIA Telluride has been caught testing under heavy camouflage but even through the disguise, it’s clear there are a lot of design changes coming. Based on spy shots and insider reports the Telluride will still have its boxy and muscular shape, a key reason why customers love the rugged look of a traditional SUV. But KIA is going to refine the design with sleeker, more aerodynamic lines and modernized features.

Up front the 2026 Telluride will get a new version of KIA’s “Tiger Nose” grille which will be wider and more aggressive. The headlights are still rectangular but look to be reshaped for a more modern look with LED technology. The taillights will follow suit with a more streamlined design to improve the rear profile.

We don’t have official dimensions yet but the next-gen Telluride will likely still be big on the road with some minor tweaks for better aerodynamics and efficiency. Larger wheels and more aggressive fender flares are also rumored so it will be more assertive.

Interior: Techy and Luxurious

Inside 2026 Telluride will get big upgrades that blend luxury and functionality. KIA is known for delivering great interiors at an affordable price and the Telluride has been a prime example of that. With this refresh, the SUV will take that to another level.

The dashboard will get a larger integrated digital display that combines the infotainment system with the driver’s instrument cluster for a more cohesive and futuristic look. This setup will be similar to the twin-display setup found in many luxury vehicles and will give you access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle data without cluttering the dash.

Premium materials like soft-touch leather, wood trim, and metal accents will be used inside, especially in the higher trims. KIA will likely offer a lot of customization options including different color schemes and upholstery choices to cater to a wide range of customers. The new Telluride will also get enhanced ambient lighting and more ergonomic seats to make long drives more comfortable.

Passenger space has always been one of Telluride’s strengths and 2026 will likely continue that trend with up to 8 passengers. KIA may also introduce new second-row seating configurations for easier access to the third row and more cargo solutions.

Powertrain and Performance

While most of the attention for the 2026 KIA Telluride is on design updates, performance is also a key area of development. KIA hasn’t released details on the powertrain yet but reports say the SUV will still have a V6 engine possibly with more power and efficiency.

There’s a rumor that KIA will also offer an electrified version of the Telluride for the first time. With automakers shifting to hybrid and electric options, the 2026 Telluride could have a plug-in hybrid or full electric variant. This will not only meet global emission standards but also attract a growing number of eco-conscious buyers.

Whatever the powertrain, the 2026 Telluride will still be known for its smooth and responsive handling. KIA will likely fine-tune the suspension and chassis for better ride comfort and off-road capability. All-wheel drive (AWD) will still be an option and there will be enhancements to the towing capacity so it will be more versatile for active lifestyle owners.

Technology and Safety Features

Technology will be a big focus of the 2026 KIA Telluride with a suite of features that will make driving safer and more enjoyable. KIA’s next-gen infotainment system will likely have wireless smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and advanced voice recognition. Multiple USB-C ports, wireless charging pad, and onboard Wi-Fi will be part of the package to cater to modern families.

Safety has always been a top priority for the Telluride and 2026 will likely have KIA’s latest driver assistance systems. Enhanced lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring will be part of the package along with more advanced features like automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.

In addition to these familiar safety technologies, the 2026 Telluride may introduce new ones like a 360-degree camera system, improved parking assist, and semi-autonomous driving capabilities. KIA is known to be a pioneer in safety and the next-gen Telluride will build on that by incorporating the latest tech.

Pricing and Positioning

The 2026 KIA Telluride will likely strike a balance between premium features and affordability. Although the pricing hasn’t been announced yet, it’s expected to be in line with current midsize SUV market trends. That means it will likely start around mid-$40,000 for base models and up to $60,000 for higher trims depending on options and powertrain.

With its luxury, performance, and technology, the 2026 Telluride will compete with other midsize SUVs like the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Hyundai Palisade. But with its unique design and premium focus, it may carve out a more exclusive space in the segment.

The 2026 KIA Telluride will be a stylish, performance-, and tech-packed vehicle that will remain a top pick for midsize SUV buyers. The upcoming refresh will have plenty of updates to keep it ahead of the competition and appeal to both SUV enthusiasts and family drivers.
